Fully electric Shimano headquarters despite grid congestion

Sustainable Cities

For Shimano, we realised a fully electric building at H2O Business Park in Hattem. The challenge? The high-capacity grid connection will only become available in a few years. Together, we explored how progress could still be made within the limitations of the electricity grid.

Using an energy simulation, we mapped the building’s complete energy profile. Based on this, the chosen solution included a ground-source heat pump, solar panels and battery storage. These are all connected to the Batenburg Nexus energy management system: the data platform where all energy data comes together.

With Batenburg Nexus, Shimano has continuous insight, while smart control ensures that energy is always available when needed. This allows Shimano to work around grid congestion, gain better control over energy flows and prepare the building for the future.
